Japanese pianist and jazz organist Masako Sakai, who currently lives in Germany, studied as a concert pianist in Tokyo and Vienna.  

 

In 2002, she was a prizewinner at the 8th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg.

She received a scholarship from the  renowned Bösendorfer Piano Company in Vienna, and is a "Bösendorfer Artist" and a member of "Bösendorfer Artists & Friends."

 

She has performed both as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in Japan and Europe.

 

Masako has also been active as a jazz pianist and jazz organist for many years.  She is currently a member of several different ensembles and collaborates with various artists as well as leading her own organ trio with "Toriyo".  Masako has additionally appeared on numerous recordings.
